Fahim Billah was born on November 14, 1998, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, into a middle-class family that placed considerable importance on education. When Fahim was ten years old, his family immigrated to Canada and settled in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he would spend most of his childhood and teenage years. His father eventually established a professional career in Canada, while his mother worked in education administration. Fahim has one younger sister, who remained in Canada as an adult. The transition from Dhaka to Halifax was significant. Fahim had to adapt to a new school system, a different cultural environment, and a new way of life while remaining connected to his Bangladeshi family and traditions. His parents encouraged him to embrace his new surroundings while maintaining a strong connection to his heritage. Growing up in Halifax gave Fahim a relatively quiet and community-oriented childhood. He became comfortable in multicultural environments and developed an early appreciation for the role that schools, libraries, teachers, and community organizations could play in helping young people succeed.
